What is a Voicemail Extension?
The voicemail extension is an extension that is intended to operate solely as a voicemail box rather than a regular user extension.
Licensing Notice
Voicemail Extensions are provided free of charge in the phone system, allowing you to add as many as you need without any additional cost.
Creating Voicemail Extensions
- Log into the bvoip phone system.
- Click on the Extensions drop-down menu.
- Go to the Extensions subsection.
- Click the Add button. The add button will expand to provide options.
- Select the Voicemail Box option. The Create new voicemail box pop-up will appear.
- In the Extension field, add the desired extension number.
- In the Email Address field, add the email address to be tied to the extension. This email address must be unique.
- In the First Name field, add the first half of the name of the extension.
- In the Last Name field, add the second half of the name of the extension. A best practice would be to include Voicemail in the last name to make it easier to recognize through different parts of the phone system.
- In the Mobile field, add a relevant mobile number, if desired. Note: Do not add special characters such as hyphens or parentheses in this field when adding the number.
- Click on the Save and Close button. The screen will refresh and take you back to the Extensions page. The new extension will be present and will be ready to configure.
Setting the Voicemail Audio
- Click on the Edit button beside the voicemail extension.
- Go to the Voicemail tab.
- Scroll down to the Voicemail Greetings section.
- Greetings can be pre-recorded and uploaded into the system by clicking on the upload button. The option to record the greeting live is available by clicking on the Record button.
