Integration User Setup and Adding Users

This article will provide a walkthrough of the second phase of completing the Teams Integration.

Updated at July 27th, 2024

Adding Users Notice

If your Teams users have not yet been added as extensions in the bvoip phone system, the Teams users will be created starting on extension number 100. If you want an extension user to have a specific extension number, the extension will need to be built in the bvoip phone system before completing these steps.

Licensing Notice

You will need one of each of the following licenses available to complete this process:

  • Microsoft Business Basic (or any higher plan that includes Teams)
  • Teams Phone Standard

These licenses will be consumed by the integration user until you complete the setup, but then they will be released back to the pool.

Integration User Setup

  1. Log into the Microsoft Admin center.
  2. Go to the Users > Active users section.
  3. Click on the Add a user button.
  4. Fill out the following items:
    1. First Name: bvoip
    2. Display Name: bvoip
    3. Username: bvoip
    4. Domain MUST be client-msti.bvoip.net
  5. Click on the Next button.
  6. License the user with any license that includes Teams and Teams Phone Standard, then click Next.
  7. Click on the Next button at Optional settings.
  8. Click on the Finish Adding button.

  9. You can now Close this window

Adding Users

Users must now be added into the integration list. Please follow the document below to do so, then return to this page to go to the next steps.

We recommend starting with 1 user just to ensure this works as expected.

Integration Next Steps

After the integration user is made, and additional users are added, the activation scripts will need to be run. Please see our Running the Teams Activation Scripts article for guidance on completing the Teams setup process.

Planning on Using Teams Voicemail?

If you are looking to user Teams voicemail, please see our Setting up Teams Voicemail article. In an effort to prevent step duplication, we recommend activating user teams voicemail prior to running the scripts in this article.
